OUR MISSION

At Plushies with Purpose, our mission is to bring comfort and a sense of belonging to children in need through the art of repurposing and sewing stuffed animals. Our organization distributes donated plushies and hand-sewn plushies based on location. We understand the significance of a cherished toy in a child's life, so we craft and repurpose each plushie with love and care. All parts of the process are done by hand using recycled fabrics to bring new life into old materials. By creating personalized stories attached to the plushies, we aim to create a unique and meaningful experience for every recipient. Through our distribution at food pantry drives, we strive to reach those who may not have access to such comforts, spreading warmth and happiness one plushie at a time.

EXECUTIVE BOARD

Executive Director

Evelyn Kim

Evelyn Kim is a senior at Brea Olinda High School. From sewing and repurposing clothing to selling clothing online, she finds joy in bringing new life to old things. She believes in being a sustainable consumer and the importance of limiting waste. She enjoys ministering to the children at her church, Church of Southland Chino. She also loves yummy snacks and walks with her dog. As the Executive Director of PWP, Evelyn was inspired to make a change in children's lives through the comfort of stuffed animals, which she cherished as a child. Her nonprofit operates with a zero-waste policy inspired by her interest in and research on the effects of consumerism on the environment.

Director of Outreach

Chloe Chang

Chloe Chang is a senior at Orange County School of the Arts. She enjoys dance and acting and participates in various plays and projects within OCSA. Chloe has a passion for helping others and is also currently involved with the Teen Talk app. As our Director of Outreach in PWP, she strives to help make this organization grow and is focused on repurposing stuffed animals to give them new, loving homes. She loves serving the preschool ministry within Church of Southland and hopes to reach out to as many children as we can with this project.

Director of Administration

Kira Chung

Kira Chung is a senior at El Dorado High School. She is passionate about art and design and enjoys any creative opportunity or project. She loves serving children by taking care of them at the nursery at the Church of Southland and is also involved in Math4Kids to help tutor children in Title I schools. As Director of Administration in PWP, she hopes to reach their goal of repurposing stuffed animals to help limit waste, promote sustainability, and make a meaningful impact by spreading joy to children in her community.

Director of Marketing

Sean Cho

Sean Cho is a senior at Valencia High School. He enjoys expressing his creativity through photography, videography, and graphic design. He also enjoys hiking, listening to hip-hop music, and watching Korean mukbang videos. Sean is passionate about sustainability, founding the Zero Waste Initiative to promote food waste recycling and advising and consulting at Linens N Love to develop the first circular economy app by diverting hotel linen waste to shelters. As a director of PWP, Sean is committed to enabling children with resources that foster a community of comfort and support.

Chase Lee

Director of Finance

Chase Lee is a senior at Brea Olinda High School who is passionate about organizational operations and sustainability. As the Director of Finance, Chase aims to grow PWP and its mission through financing, budgeting, and inventory management.

Since the beginning of 2024, PWP has established 9 high school chapters in California and reached 3 countries; India, Nicaragua, and Cambodia. We have partnered with organizations such as Homeboy Industries, Project Kinship, and GOALS.
